Our Story
My name is Nick Velez. I'm a Central Florida offshore angler, and I built Wet Water Gear because the brand I wanted didn't exist.
I spent years buying fishing apparel from the big names. Some of it was fine. Most of it wasn't built for the conditions I fish in — it was built for the version of fishing that looks good in a catalog. I needed something that worked harder than that.
More importantly, I wanted to be associated with a brand with real people behind it, not some corporate entity. The kind of people that work all week dreaming about fishing the weekend. I built Wet Water Gear to find people just as crazy as me about being on the water.
The Mission
But this was never just about the gear.
The ocean changes people. I've seen it — the moment a first-time angler feels the rod bend, the focus that comes over someone watching a line in open water, the quiet that settles in when you're far from shore and the only thing between you and the horizon is salt air.
Not every kid gets that experience. We want to change that.
A portion of every Wetwatergear purchase goes toward sponsoring youth fishing trips — getting kids on the water who might never get there otherwise. Teaching them patience. Teaching them respect for the ocean. Giving them a memory that lasts longer than anything we could put in a box.
That's the mission behind the brand. Gear that performs. A purpose that lasts.
